PLAN AHEAD FOR WESTBOUND 91 CLOSURESDecember 11, 2023 - January 24, 2024
The Riverside County Transportation Commission’s 71/91 Interchange Project will require nightly full closures (Monday through Wednesday) of the westbound 91 between State Route 71 and Green River Road beginning Monday, December 11, 2023 through Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Due to the holidays, no closures will be scheduled from December 20 through January 1, 2024. Closures will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
These closures will allow crews to safely continue building support structures and placing beams for the new eastbound 91 to northbound 71 connector. Crews are building a 30-foot-tall structure over the 91 and setting more than 200 beams over the eastbound and westbound 91 lanes.
Additional nighttime lane reductions, 91 Express Lanes closures in Riverside County, ramp closures, and connector closures will occur Thursday — Sunday nights.
The following closures will be scheduled:
Full Westbound 91 Closures
Full closure of westbound 91 lanes from the 71 to Green River Road
- Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Full westbound 91 Express Lanes closures from the 15/91 Interchange to the Orange County/Riverside County Line
- Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Connector Closures
Full southbound 71 to westbound 91 connector closure
- Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Full southbound 15 to westbound 91 Express Lanes connector closure
- Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Full northbound 15 to westbound 91 Express Lanes connector closure
- Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Westbound 91 Green River Rd. Off-Ramp Closure
Nightly, Monday – Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Closure dates are subject to change due to weather, site conditions, construction progress, and other factors.

Detour Routes
To reduce traffic time, motorists traveling westbound are encouraged to avoid the area by using northbound 71 to westbound 60 to southbound 57 to navigate around the closure.
Nightly Westbound 91 Full Closures Video
Drivers who need to reach Green River Road may use the westbound 91 exit at Serfas Club Dr./Auto Center Dr. Fire, police, and ambulance services will have access to emergency response. During these closures, heavy traffic delays are expected for motorists traveling on the 91 and 71 through Corona.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission, in partnership with Caltrans, is reconstructing the 71/91 Interchange Project in Corona.
The new non-tolled interchange is designed to improve safety, expand access to other modes of travel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance traffic flow, and support continued movement of native wildlife through the area. Construction will take place from early 2023 to 2025.

12/19/2023 UPDATE: The southbound 71 to eastbound 91 connector is closed to clean up dirt and gravel. The connector will be closed until approximately 4:30 pm. Use westbound 91 to Green River Road to reenter the eastbound 91.
