The Point: RCTC is seeking applicants for the Citizens and Specialized Transit Advisory Council – Deadline Extended to March 13!

If you have good ideas about public transit, the Riverside County Transportation Commission wants your help. The Citizens and Specialized Transit Advisory Council (CSTAC), is accepting applications from qualified candidates.

The 15-member group of volunteers, which meets one to four times each year, provides a link between the Commission and the public. The council focuses on passenger rail and bus issues, especially on specialized transit programs funded by RCTC.

Council members will take part in unmet transit needs hearings, review operating and capital expenditures of Riverside County’s seven public transit operators and rail program, advise RCTC on major transit issues, and serve as liaisons between the public and RCTC. Other transportation issues, such as highway projects, may be briefly discussed during meetings, but are not the focus of the council.

The state’s Transportation Development Act requires the council to be comprised of at least:

  • One potential transit rider, who is 60 years or older
  • One potential transit rider, who is disabled
  • Two representatives of local social service providers for seniors, including one representative of a social service transportation provider, if one exists
  • Two representatives of local social service providers for the disabled, including one representative of a social service transportation provider, if one exists
  • One representative of a local social service provider for persons of low income
  • Two representatives from the local consolidated transportation service agency, if one exists, including one representative from a transit operator, if one exists

Although RCTC is seeking members who meet the minimum requirements, candidates who represent a broad cross-section of Riverside County also will be considered. To apply, please complete and submit the form by mail or email by March 13.

If you know others who may be interested in applying to be members of CSTAC, please share this information.
