The Point: RCTC collaborates with City of Eastvale and Western Riverside Council of Governments to make this gap closure project a reality

The City of Eastvale broke ground on the Limonite Avenue Gap Closure Project on August 23, a vital local roadway project that will improve access throughout the region and ultimately reduce travel time for area residents. RCTC approved $13.5 million from Measure A Regional Arterials (MARA) Program to support construction of the project. Measure A is a county-wide, voter-approved half-cent sales tax dedicated to funding local transportation projects across Riverside County. The MARA program is administered by RCTC. Earlier this summer, RCTC awarded Eastvale and other projects $135 million in MARA and Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) for regional materials project.

The groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by the City of Eastvale with attendance by City officials, California Transportation Commissioners, and local leaders.

City officials, California Transportation Commissioners, and local leaders break ground to begin construction for the Limonite Avenue Gap Closure

The City of Eastvale’s Limonite Gap Closure Project will extend Limonite from Archibald Avenue to Kimball Avenue, a much-needed connection to accommodate the region’s growing population. The project will also add Class I bicycle paths, pedestrian sidewalks, a new bridge, and allow for the development of new transit routes. Limonite Avenue is a significant roadway critical to movement between the 15 and 71. These new roadway enhancements will provide a direct, simple, and reliable method throughout Eastvale and beyond. RCTC’s partnership with the City of Eastvale and Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) made this project possible.
