The Point: Despite challenges, RCTC continues road, transit investments

Yes, 2020 was one for the books. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on health and the economy created shockwaves locally, nationally, and globally. To cope with the crisis, RCTC kept moving forward, with a renewed focus on safety, fiscal responsibility, and economic recovery.

RCTC invested $943 million in projects this year to put more people to work and to keep people moving. This included starting construction of the long-awaited I-15 Railroad Canyon Interchange in Lake Elsinore and the I-215 Placentia Avenue Interchange in Perris, as well as continuing construction on I-15, Route 60 and Route 91.

In addition to these investments, RCTC:

  • Protected our environment,
  • Improved our public transit system,
  • Helped our economy recover,
  • Offered drivers choices,
  • Faced our challenges, and
  • Listened to residents
