Active Transportation

The Traffic Relief Plan (TRP) is a comprehensive strategy to repair roads, reduce congestion, complete long-needed freeway projects, and improve safe, reliable travel options across Riverside County. The plan supports easier and safer options for biking, rolling, walking, running, or hiking.

READ THE PLAN

Better mobility includes improved sidewalks and more bike lanes that connect people to school, jobs, and more. New biking infrastructure and hiking trails help create a cleaner, healthier, and more active Riverside County.

Examples of active transportation improvements include:

  • Implementing CV Link extensions to North Shore and Desert Hot Springs
  • Implementing Palm Desert Link and bike improvements to the La Quinta village
  • Incorporating active transportation into the design of complete streets and creating multi-modal connections in the Coachella Valley, including along Dillon Road
  • Expanding major regional trails including Butterfield Overland Trail/Southern Emigrant Trail, Santa Ana River Trail, and Salt Creek Trail
