Toll Road Legislation Moves Forward in Sacramento

The Commission has sponsored an Assembly Bill, AB 1954, authored by local Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries, which will provide RCTC with the authority to construct High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes on Interstate 15. The bill was passed by the Assembly Transportation Committee on April 14, 2008, on a unanimous 12-0 vote and is now in the Assembly Appropriations Committee before it will be heard by the full State Assembly.

The Commission is also sponsoring SB 1316, to extend the SR-91 Express Lanes into Riverside County. This bill was jointly sponsored by the RCTC with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). The bill was passed by the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee on April 15, 2008. It is sponsored by Senator Lou Correa. More


RCTC Seeks to Authorize 2008 Bonds

The 2009 Measure A expenditure plan is due to begin on July 1, 2009, with the receipt of the first sales tax revenues anticipated in September 2009. In order to keep 2009 Measure A projects moving forward, such as those listed in the 10-Year Western County Highway Delivery Plan, the Commission is seeking to combine financing programs currently in place and issue 2008 Bonds. Locally Preferred Alternative Selected for Perris Valley Line

A new locally preferred alternative (LPA) was selected as part of the federal grant requirements and input received from the project. The former alternative incorporated part of the Union Pacific (UP) line in Riverside near Rustin Avenue. The UP alternative created the need for business relocations and also presented significant noise impacts to an adjacent mobile home park. More

Truck Bypass Lanes Open on Interstate 215

On April 11, 2008, Caltrans held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Interstate 215 Truck Bypass Lane located near Box Springs Road.

The truck bypass lanes will allow a smooth transition for truck traffic traveling east bound on State Route 60 and south bound on the I-215. More

The Riverside County Transportation Commission will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, May 14 at the Riverside County Administrative Center, Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside at 9:30 a.m.
