Anne Mayer Named RCTC Executive Director
The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) has appointed Anne Mayer as its new Executive Director. Ms. Mayer will become the fourth person to hold the post during the agency's 31-year existence.
"Anne brings an exceptional track record of achievement to this position," said RCTC Chair Terry Henderson. "She combines a strong engineering background along with exceptional management skills.
"She also has a strong commitment to reaching out and communicating to the public and understands the importance of our commitment to the people we serve."
Mayer joined RCTC as a Deputy Executive Director in 2005. Prior to joining RCTC, Ms. Mayer served as District 8 Director for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) overseeing state highways in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Mayer holds a civil engineering degree from Michigan State University and has over 23 years of experience in the public works field, 14 of those with Caltrans and nine in the private sector.
"I'm honored by the opportunity to serve RCTC in this position and look forward to serving the Commission, the people of Riverside County and our exceptional staff," said Mayer.
Since joining RCTC in 2005 Mayer has headed up a number of Commission efforts including the establishment of a freeway delivery plan that will invest more than $2 billion improving four major freeways in Western Riverside County using Measure A funds, state dollars and High Occupancy Toll Lane revenues. Her other areas of responsibility include Programming, Private Financing, Rail, Goods Movement, Regional Programs, Finance and Human Resources.
She will now head up an organization with 44 employees and an annual budget exceeding $526 million. RCTC oversees the Measure A program approved by voters in 1988 and 2002.
Mayer replaces Eric Haley who announced his retirement from the Commission earlier this year. Mr. Haley was appointed as Executive Director in 1998 and brought Mayer to the Commission as a Deputy Director in 2005.
"The Commission is in good hands with an innovative Board of Directors, a first-rate staff and an Executive Director who will lead the organization to major accomplishments for many years into the future," said Haley.
Mayer will begin serving in her new position as Executive Director on October 25, 2007.
