Having to wait for slow-moving freight trains is a constant source of traffic congestion in Riverside County.

Grade Separation Projects to Receive Dedicated Funding from RCTC

While full funding for 18 high-priority railroad grade separations remains challenging, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) has taken a significant step in closing a major funding gap by committing more than $77 million to help local jurisdictions pay for the projects. The action identifies the dollars needed to implement a funding plan that was developed by the Commission last year. The plan provided a complete analysis of Riverside County's grade separations, providing empirical data on delays caused by freight trains at crossings, and projections for the future as well as air quality and safety impacts.
